We are honoured to celebrate the rich contribution Dr. Daylene Lauman  has made to the field of  education technology in Alberta over the last 3 decades. Dr. Daylene is the recipient of this year’s 2023 ATLE Pillar award. Daylene is deserving of this award for her impactful leadership in technology and education.
Dr. Daylene Lauman is founding Head of School at Ignite Centre for eLearning. Daylene’s long held dream was to lead a school that was based on the research, including synchronous instruction, lots of connection between teachers, students and families, and engaging learning tasks. The dream of Ignite was born in May 2021, with accreditation from Alberta Education as a 1-12 stand alone, online school.
Daylene is an example of a dedicated, lifelong teacher who embraces technology as a tool to support student learning. What singles Daylene out is that she is a  “practitioner leader.” She, herself, uses the technology and tools in the classroom or for operational purposes. She seeks to understand the user interface, the experience and impact on children, parents, the users. Learning drives Daylene’s  decision making regarding technology.
The impact of Daylene’s passion, skills, and experience spans many decades, across many professions, goes beyond the province of Alberta and reaches students and colleagues nationally and internationally. Daylene is a living legacy, sharing her passions and gifts with students, colleagues alike.
We are very proud of Daylene’s success and love that she ignites our world everyday.
